Chef Hunter Lee spent 15 YEARS as a Chef/kitchen personality, business owner, food expert with talktochef.com, a restaurant consultant/critic and catering and private chef services in Lafayette, Lake Charles, New Orleans and Shreveport!
Louisiana runs through his veins. In retirement he worked closely with local non-profit organizations, festivals, charities and in Mardi Gras – as the President of the Board and Captain of The Krewe until December 2021.
Chef Hunter Lee enjoys cooking and spoiling guests at his plantation in the piney woods of Northwest Louisiana. He loves to travel and explore hidden gem restaurants across the state and country!

About Benwood’s
Benwood’s spice was the original creation of Hunter Lee’s father Benny during the oil and gas boom in the 1980’s. Inspired by his love for cooking, catering and the unique flavors of Louisiana, the spice was a big hit with chefs and home cooks alike.
Years later, Chef Hunter Lee came across the old recipe and revamped it for mass production, adding in his own personal flair for fabulous Louisiana cooking. Jump ahead to 2021, Chef Hunter Lee now offers NOT ONLY the Benwood’s Surely Southern original flavor, but a low sodium and a “spicier” version as well!
An incredible BBQ rub, new blackened spices, BBQ and hot sauces are scheduled to be released soon! Benwood’s Surely Southern is created, produced and packaged right here in Louisiana! A Certified Louisiana Product!
Chef Hunter Lee is also releasing not one, not two, but THREE cookbooks in the Benwood’s series; the first to be released Spring of 2022.
